Welcome to SIT 2007!
On February 10, 2007, the Bloomington
Normal Education Alliance (BNEA) will host the annual SIT
Conference at Heartland Community College. The SIT
Conference is a one-day technology conference for students
in grades 3 through 12. The conference is by students for
students! Yes, students in grades 3-12 are both the
presenters and the attendees! We anticipate more than 400
students and 75 volunteers will participate in this event!
Presentations will likely cover a variety of topics ranging
from computer forensic careers, wireless networking,
computer ethics and security, hovercraft technology, gaming,
digital movies, using pocket PCs, to robotic technology and
much more!
LIFE’S A CIRCUS!
This year’s conference theme is Life’s A
Circus! What does technology have to do with the circus, you
ask? We think it might just be that our attendees appreciate
that technology is EVERYWHERE—and just as important,
technology developments impact aspects of education,
business, health, recreation, entertainment, government, and
the list goes on and on. In addition, technology like the
circus can be exciting and a whole lot of fun. So, we
encourage you to come join us at SIT for a day where you
will expand your tech skills and experience, network with
your tech-savvy peers and have a great day of fun!
GREAT PRIZES!
Presenters will be eligible for great
prize drawings, including a chance to win a Playstation 3!
All attendees (including presenters) will be eligible for
additional prize drawings, including iPods, iTunes giftcards,
software, tech gadgets and more! Sponsors even have chances
to win great prizes.

BE A PRESENTER*!!

have developed and would like to share with your peers?
Maybe you’re great at video editing? maybe animation? web
design? Maybe you have built a computer—what experience
could you share in a 15 minute class presentation?
Presenters have the ability to share their knowledge and
qualify
for the most sought after SIT tech prize drawings all at the
same time!!
*Students of all grade levels (3-12) are encouraged to be
SIT presenters.
HOVERCRAFTS ARE BACK
Last year 7 teams from area schools
participated in the Hovercraft Project. We had so much
fun-we’re bringing it back this year! Teams in this project
learn about hovercraft technology and assemble a hovercraft
during the conference; the finished hovercraft will go back
to that team’s school for use in science classes, projects,
etc. Students interested in creating a team or schools
interested in sponsoring a team should contact Kimberly
Travers as soon as possible, as registration for this
project fills quickly:
